Milk Farms: SCC Reduction Within One Month, Iodine Free

An innovative iodine-free product now allows milk farms to reduce somatic cell count (SCC) rapidly, effectively, at a lower cost, and without using Iodine.  Performance pilots are now offered to potential distributors in Europe and India.

Bacterial infections (bovine mastitis) are the most prevalent health challenge in dairy herds, affecting production, animal health, and the economy of the milk-farms industry.

Enhanced hygiene allows for moving from blanket dry cow treatment (BDCT) to selective treatment (SDCT) and reduce the use of antibiotics. But commonly used hygiene products are based on iodine, which is relatively expensive, and toxic for milk-farm workers, animals, and milk consumers (iodine is a residual substance in milk).

An innovative chlorine-based product now allows milk farms to maintain hygiene and more effectively reduce somatic cell count (SCC) – without using toxic products, and at a lower cost. It also:

• Covers a wider range of bacteria, fungi and spores compared to other products, whether based on chlorine or iodine, or lactic acid. As such, it allows for effective, ongoing, and steady protocol to avoid infection.
• Unlike other chlorine-based products, this product does not contain hypochlorite, that disintegrates rapidly as gas, and has undesired byproducts.
• Contains a colored dye that shows the treated area, so that missed cows or areas can be spotted easily.
• Easy to prepare by just adding water. This makes the product much easier to transport and store.
• Has a neutral PH, proved to be beneficious to the cow and the milk-farm workers.

The above chart demonstrates the efficay of the product in one of many experiments already done.
