Missing a trend is one of the worst mistakes any business or organization can make. Can you think of any current trend that shouldn’t be overlooked?
Some of the biggest brands have risen and disappeared over the years, after dominating the market. Can you recall a few of them? Other types of organizations have just turned ineffective or irrelevant. Most likely, they have overlooked an important trend. Such a mistake is one of the worst you can make: It may have severe strategic implications, which take a long time to correct. No cost efficiencies will suffice to compensate for such overlooking. Take this opportunity to make an observation: Is there any trend that must not be ignored now?
The challenge about emerging trends is that they can be difficult to spot in real time. By the time you start to respond, it may be too late. Therefore, it’s vital to proactively search for current trends, as a part of your routine.
